Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training
I am a Koori woman and have had the opportunity to work with various remote communities throughout Australia, all of which have been filled with many emotions, at times incredibly humbling, peaceful and enjoyable – however at times there was disbelief, sadness and shared trauma with the community.
I would be delighted to share my cultural knowledge and learning's with others in order to educate, transform, empower and ensure strategies implemented are culturally competent, negotiations include elders and provide an understanding on best practice around community consultation and lastly I would be delighted to share my approaches used in relation to managing mental health issues on community and the success that I witnessed due to the ability to marry mainstream practice with cultural protocols.
Together, we can create positive change to ensure the future generations of Australia are able to work together and a gap no longer exists, as such it’s important to start from today to ensure sustainable outcomes for the future in relation to education, social and emotional wellbeing, cultural differences and respect and sustainable employment outcomes.

" I would recommend Cross Cultural Training delivered by Kym Dann. The training was extremely practical and helped me to understand various cultural protocols and considerations when working in an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community or with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It helped me to understand the cultural significance of things like Acknowledgement of Country and has since changed my professional practices. Kym was non-judgemental in her approach and was open to any questions to help increase the groups understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people needs.
